Each tree planted and each child rescued is an important part of our mission to save the earth's most precious resources- children and the environment. Working closely with various project partners, Rescue a Million is planting trees to benefit the environment and donating money to provide micro-credit loans to help entire families begin their journey out of poverty. Many of the trees we plant will be grown for lumber, in addition to our reforestation, conservation, and community development programs. When these trees are ready for harvest in seven to ten years, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the lumber will be donated back to the Rescue a Million, providing additional funds to plant more trees and help more children through our self-perpetuating program. |

It is a sad fact that many children on the earth live day to day in such extreme poverty that they are left with little hope of ever reaching adulthood. Rescue a Million's work helps overcome the devastating effects of poverty that are taking the lives of 22 children every minute. There is also little hope for children, or even ourselves, if we allow our planet to be destroyed through irresponsible behavior. Rescue a Million's work helps prevent the destruction of our earth's rainforests that are disappearing at the rate of one acre per second.

Exercising wise stewardship over the earth and extending a hand to help other members of our human family is essential if we want to live in peace and prosperity in our increasingly global society. The symbiotic relationship that exists between ourselves as humans and our environment cannot be overlooked. Rescue a Million's self-perpetuating program emphasizes this symbiotic relationship as it simultaneously overcomes challenges that threaten the future of children and the environment.
